Silicon Valley community of 300,000 people -- has two reporter

transportation/general assignment beat, and either an education beat
or a religion/ethnic issues beat.
In addition, a deputy city editor position will be open in early
June. Job duties include working with 11 reporters on daily stories
taking charge during the evening as part of a 1-10 p.m. shift. A
couple of years of reporting experience is a must for the city desk

Editorial Advisor To Student Newspaper

The Red and Black student newspaper at the University of Georgia, has
position open, for a full-time or possibly part-time editorial
Over the last ten years we've employed both. We've filled the
with a variety of candidates including: a non-traditional graduate
student who was a former news editor for the Baltimore Evening Sun,
who took advantage of a generous severance package to go back to
school; we most recently hired a former editor who worked at the
local daily newspaper upon graduation. While the position is
currently vacant and we hope to fill it ASAP, it could be held open
until the beginning of August for the right candidate.

The position can be tailored to fit a variety of situations depending
on the candidates wants/needs. The University of Georgia has excellent
graduate programs in the Grady College of Journalism & Mass
Communications. So for someone interested in going back to school, it
can be a great fit. We've also filled the position part-time, with a
very experienced and successful free-lance writer and a UGA J-school
professor. Following that, full-time with a former Red and Black
editor with several years of professional experience.

The Red and Black publishes 16,000 papers Monday-Friday, fall through
spring, 8,000 once-a-week during the summer. We are a 501 C (3)
private not-for-profit corporation, independent of the University of
Georgia and governed by a fourteen member board of directors.

Program at Purchase College (SUNY), Purchase, New York.

1. Journalism lecturer position available: Two courses Fall 2000 and
two courses Spring 2001. Courses include Journalism I and Journalism
(basic reporting and writing using the Mencher text) and Feature
Writing. Faculty member also assists with curriculum-based campus
newspaper. Teaching experience preferred. Health and other benefits

3. Electronic News Media: Basic introduction to what is available to

Purchase College (SUNY) is a small, selective liberal arts college
located 35 min.north of Manhattan. Our students represent very
backgrounds, and the majority of students are on financial aid. They
are required to take general core curriculum courses in liberal arts.

The Journalism program at Purchase College is 3 years old and focuses
on hands-on training of students. The program revolves around the
curriculum-based newspaper, The Dispatch, which is published every 3-4
weeks and which consists of journalism students' writings. The
will offer 10-11 courses for academic year 200-2001, including the
courses Journalism I, Journalism II, Intro to Media, Electronic News
Media, etc.

Adjunct faculty can teach one or two courses per term. Fall 2000 term
lasts from Aug. 28 to Dec. 18. Faculty who teach 2 courses per term
eligible for health and other benefits. All journalism courses are
limited to 20 students. Purchase College also runs 2 programs abroad,
in Spain and in Italy, which offers journalism courses on demand and
which adjunct faculty are eligible to teach in. It is preferred that
applicants for these positions have some teaching experience.
